Our loving restoration of the magical Mackies Corner, Sunderland
Dating back to the 1840's Mackie's Corner had lain derelict in the early 2000's.
Mackie's Corner has stood proudly overlooking the junction of High Street and Fawcett Street in Sunderland for nearly 180 years.
Originally built in 1845, the building’s first tenant was a small hatter called Robert Mackie. He would become synonymous with the building hence the name Mackie’s Corner. Now, this stunning Grade II listed building has gone through a meticulous multi-million-pound restoration and refurbishment and now is comprised of retail, hospitality, and beauty units, as well as a vibrant office space environment. It has become a staple destination in the Sunderland City Centre and you could work here too – take a look at the office space we have available.
The retail units are all now fully let to some outstanding independent retailers and we are now almost finished with the renovation of the old Chambers nightclub. The offices will have all the usual mod cons such as high-speed wifi connections, air conditioning throughout, mixed communal spaces to network and relax in, and focus areas when you need to get your head down and work too! We are welcoming enquiries now ready for our official opening in Autumn 2022.
Mackies Corner Before
The building was completely dilapidated when we bought it and we have extensively and lovingly breathed new life into it.
Mackies Corner After
We have sympathetically renovated all the retail spaces at street level and created a vibrant destination with local independent retailers in Sunderland
