Hanover Place was ravaged by fire and sustained significant damage until we bought it in 2015.
Hanover Place can trace its origins back to Sunderland's shipyard era, originally built as the shipyards directors' launch room.
Having previous identities as The Winston back in the 80's and 90's, through to more recently as the former TJ Doyles Irish Bar, the building has had many incarnations.
We knew that we had a big job on our hands to restore this beautiful historic building back to its former glory. It has played host to royalty, as well as the great and the good of the Sunderland shipbuilding industry who would look on from the balcony as they watched these powerful sea-going machines be launched into the mighty river Wear.
Now is it occupied and ran by a long-standing popular family restaurant San Marino, operated by Elisa Ricci, and Ben Harman. They have a fantastically loyal client base so when we were looking for a tenant to care and give the building a lease of life, we knew they had what it takes. San Marino is very busy and the building is now a vibrant bustling place to be.
